Crank it up: How our commercial heaters keep warehouses warm

At Sunbelt Rentals, we believe in providing our customers with the most efficient heating solutions available. So, we built our own. Our direct-fired Safe-Heat® heaters are designed to help circulate warm air with more efficiency. Here’s a quick look at how they get the job done.

Start from the ground up

Whenever you heat a space, it’s important to keep air circulating, since hot air rises. This is a limitation of conventional heaters, which typically come with paddle-blade fans and smaller motors. The motors aren’t strong enough to push the air out from behind the blades.

Instead of blasting heat with force, conventional heaters emanate heat gradually at a rate of about 2,000 cubic feet per minute (CFM). This helps if you’re standing nearby, but that isn’t the case in warehouses, where employees are constantly on the move, fulfilling orders and driving forklifts.

Moreover, the heat generated by conventional heaters in large areas disproportionately flows towards the ceiling. Because employees are usually working on the ground level, conventional heaters tend to burn more fuel for less return on investment.

We owe it all to our fans

The design of a fan makes a big difference in how a heater operates. The goal is to move the most air with each rotation of the blades. For this reason, we engineered the fans in our Safe-Heat heaters to be interstitial, meaning our fans have more blades and spaces to create more opportunity to drive out warm air at higher volume.

And we didn’t stop there. We paired these fans with more powerful motors to prevent backups and create more circulation, as much as 4,600 CFM. Over time, the fans draw cool air in the back and pump warm air from the front for a successful cycle.

You can feel the difference

Our Safe-Heat heaters come with more heating efficiency, a must-have for warehouse settings. When paired with a low-cost fuel such as natural gas, they can generate cost savings over standard models. So long as you create a path for air to flow, they’ll send heat your way.
